Newer A1S eye cup for older A1 cameras
For anyone who is interested, the new larger accessory eye cup for the A1S can be ordered directly from Canon and is a perfect fit for older A1 cameras. Canon parts can be reached at 732-521-7230. Cost is $28.10 plus $6 shipping (they charge state sales tax too). The part number is D54-0140-000. It's important to have the part number when you call as it took them 10 minutes to locate the part number when I called the first time (turns out it is listed in the back of the A1S manual). The second time I called to place the order, the salesperson swore up and down there was no match to the part number I gave her (she eventually found it as well).
Word of caution, the eye cup is HUGE. Much bigger than the eye cup on my Panasonic HMC-150. I find it to be a big improvement over the existing eye cup but if you have a narrow or small face you may find the existing eye cup to be a better fit. You could also probably cut it down if you are handy with a pair of scissors. Ray |
