Can't get Final Cut to "initialize" my camera for capture...help?
Sorry for a big newbie question...but I can't get final cut to see my XHA1 to capture HDV. I just installed all the updates on final cut so I am at 6.0.5. I tested the camera with a old dv tape and final cut will capture that via firewire, but when I set it up for capturing to prores it won't work. I have tried everything on this page: Capturing HDV Into ProRes Via FireWire | Moviola ? Training for Avid, Apple & Adobe | Production & Post Production Rentals & Sales | Los Angeles, Hollywood, Burbank to no avail. Any tips? I figure the firewire must be ok since I am able to capture in Standard Def. I assume there is some little button I need to push in final cut but I can't find it. Any help would be appreciated!!

newbie mistake
I knew that shortly after posting I would figure this out and feel pretty dumb. I accidentally had the down convert set to "on" in the camera menus. I couldn't see this setting as you have to disconnect firewire to access it. So...if final cut is not seeing your camera in HDV, try disconnecting firewire and make sure you have it set to HDV out under the signal menu and that you have it set to not downconvert. Hope this saves the next person some time...
