Shotgun as Secondary Mic
Hello all...
What do people think of using a shotgun mic for the second channel of audio when using a lapel for the first? Not for any sort of interview situation , just for general background noise or when following someone around since you can no longer use the on camera mic for any of the channels once you activate the XLR inputs? Or should I just get a different mic to attach? |

Hi Daniel............
You've just described my standard rig.
Sennheiser ME67 in a Rycote CCA adapter with Rycote softie, permanently connected to Ch 1. My stock mic for just about all situations when I don't need/ want the on - boards. On the hot shoe a Sennheiser EW100 G2 receiver permanently connected to Ch 2. That is used with either my lav, an ME66 or ME64 as the situation dictates. If two off camera mics are needed I clip my second receiver to the hand strap and unplug the ME67 (assuming I can't / won't cable up). Exceedingly versatile set up. CS |
