Another tape question Canon XH A1
Hi all,
I have a little dude with tapes for my Canon XH A1. I can buy at my local store a JVC M-DV63PROHD tape for a good price, or a more expensive option like the Sony DVM63HDV. I believe that Sony is a very good tape, but I am afraid of wet lubrication. And, by the way, I have been using the Pana AY-DVM60FE, a cheap tape, in my HV30, HDV recording, fifteen tapes or so, and no one drop at the moment. Tapes used only one time. Any experience with JVC? Information welcomed. Regards.

A couple years ago we bought a cheap camcorder from Walmart, and with it a 6 pack of JVC-DVM60ME tapes. Well the camcorder was junk so we returned it but we kept the tapes for some reason. Anyway those tapes been sitting on the shelf all this time so I decided to try them with the A1. I went through 3 tapes so far, no dropouts.

Whatever you do Juan, I'd suggest this. Choose a tape brand and stick with it. Don't go mixing Sony, TDK, JVC, Panasonic and so on inside the delicate tape drive mechanism.

Thank you very much, Tom.
I agree with you. For me, as an easy way to get miniDV tapes at the local market, the JVC 63HD PRO is a good option, and I am going to stick with it. But, if in the futures I had to change brand, i.e., to Panasonic, I have read that using a head cleaner tape is mandatory. Anyway, I suppose your suggestion is about a certain tape has his own "footprint" and changing to another tape (another footprint) can affect the contact with the heads. Thanks again.
