FCP/XH A1 setup for viewing HDV on TV?
Hiya.
How do I setup Final Cut Pro and the XH A1 to view my HDV sequence on an ordinary TV (as a monitor). I've been scouring the menus and whatever I can find on the forums, and I haven't been able to get it working yet... At the moment I've got the camera plugged in via firewire, and the component out on the camera connected to the TV. I presume the camera should be on play and FCP on 'External Video: All Frames' and 'Video Playback: HDV 25p' but that last option is grayed out. Help much appreciated... thanks, Ian I'm on FCP 5.1.4, by the way. Last edited by Ian Henderson; August 27th, 2008 at 06:47 AM. Reason: more details |

I've read somewhere that you can't pass HDV back out through firewire to view on the camera from FCP. Is that true? I had this working with DV...

You can't preview HDV to an external monitor in realtime over Firewire, not like you can with DV. You need a hardware solution such as the AJA Kona LHe card to do this.
