Audio Monitor Setup Purpose
Can anyone explain to me the purpose of the Audio Monitor Setup function in the "VCR/PLAY Mode" / "Audio Setup" menu?
The manual (page 100) states you can only record two channels but can play back a total of 4 channels if recorded at 12-bit. That serves no purpose since you cannot record 4 individual channels of audio and cannot over dub. I know that I'm a beginner but am I totally missing something? It's for playback only of tapes recorded on gear that has the 12 bit 4 channel capability.

Now it makes since. I was getting ready to hook the A1 up in my recording studio and start testing all of the audio functions. You saved me a lot of time. Now on the Automatic Audio Level feature do you know how it's performing the auto feature, i.e. hard limiting only or is it a combo of compression/limiting and upward expansion? That's another one of my audio test I was planning on doing. Thanks again! |
