Is there a decent case for the a1 to house the camcorder and the kit ?

There are lots of cases and bags. What do you mean by the kit? I use a Petrol PCUB-1N; it holds the camera with shotgun and wireless mics mounted, big side pockets for batteries, wireless transmitter, tapes, lens cleaners, filters, etc. Portabrace makes more than one, so does Kata. And there are numerous hard cases available.
