XH-A1 - First Footage

Hi all,

Finally bought my A1 the other day after many months drooling over the footage I've been seeing online. I've been using an XL2 for the last 3 years so feels similar but different - and the pictures it produces are gorgeous.

I've posted a couple of short clips on Vimeo if you want to take a look.

Happy to hear any feedback on the quality of the footage. I'm loving the new camera so far but want to get so much better with it.

As an aside, the video stutters in places but only on Vimeo - i.e. the vision seems to skip a few frames .... The music keeps playing so it doesn't seem like a performance issue.

Any ideas or tips from the more experienced Vimeo users?

Cheers,

Matthew.

Hi Matthew,

Very good stuff man! The A1 really does have great images, along with your camera compositions of course :)

Noticed you didn't move your camera; maybe next time?

I'm currently shooting with the XL2, and have also been having HD dreams; but will wait for at least a few more months before diving in.

Keep up the good work!

Best,

I like it - very rich and vivid colors. I too would like to see some movement in those shots. Very good job for your first time. Keep it up.

looks good. what kind of color correction did you do? in the first video there looks like there is a vignette look to some of the images, with the corners looking darker. did you do this with a filter? or with color correction? or did the image just naturally look that way?

nice stuff.

I was actually wonder about your technique as well. If you could forward a copy of that email to me as well that would be great. It is jpcastel@ucla.edu I think it might be easier to post it on the thread however... i bet there are a lot of people wondering the same thing. Great Work!

Hey I wouldn't mind a copy or PM either. I'm looking to get an XH-A1 soon too to go with my current HC1. These short clips look beautiful.

Hi Matthew,

Received your email; thanks! (And I think I understand your dilemma, so no worries.) Also checked out your website; very cool stuff. I assume most of the stuff was shot on the XL2?

Thanks again, and will email you soon.

Best,

Jeff - Yeah, everything on my blog would have been shot on the XL2.

Shahryar - Thanks for your comment. I've sent you an e-mail via the forum - let me know if you don't get it.
