FCP 5.0.4 Crashing...

Hi Guys ->

So I just got back from the local Radio Shack, bought the Digital IEEE 1394 Cable (which is conveniently not included with the xh-a1 bundle) and I am excited to take a look at the first test clips shot from this past weekend with this nice brand new camera...

Open up Final Cut 5.0.4, set my presents to:

Easy Set Up/Sequence Preset: 1080i60
Capture Preset: HDV
Device Control: HDV Firewire

Once I try to log and capture, my FCP crashes and burns...

Try again to make sure the settings are compatible... FCP crashes

My soul shrinks,

Thanks,

<- j.r.b.

(I am using a 4 pin to Firewire cord on a 2.8 GHz Intel Core Duo iMac)

Your device control settings should be NTSC Basic for HDV the rest of your settings should be fine...

What are the specs of your Mac?

Never mind I just re-read your post. Your iMac should be able to handle it. Go to Apple>Software Update and download the 5.1.4 update and you should be cool. I believe you can also find that on the Apple website under support downloads somewhere...

You do know that Apple has pretty extensive message boards specifically related to their products right?

Also check to see that in the user preferences that the box is not checked which states abort on loss of timecode or such like. Otherwise FCP will close on any timcode drop or change.
