Canon A1 24p mixed with hv30 24 or 30p
Hi everyone
I just got a hv30 and want to shoot some b-footage for my A1. The current project I'm working on is in 24p (all canon a1) but I've heard that the 24p on the hv20/30 is a hassle to convert. I can't find any reference for which is better etc as the hv30 is too new and all the posts are hv20 24p centric. Any idea how much trouble it would be to mix 30p from the HV30 instead? I haven't tried mixing frame rates in fcp yet - so zero experience. Any thoughts would be great. trish |

the 24P on the HV-20 is the same 24P from the a1.. i have both.
also a hv30 on order but not arrived yet. 30p is supposed to be easier to work with any way around it. |

I believe the HV20 and HV30 shoot identical video. Therefore, all the threads about removing the pulldown from 24p on the HV20 would also apply to the HV30.
The HV30 will also capture in 30P mode, which is different than the XH-A1 30F and probably also has pulldown to put it into a 60i stream, similar to what is done in 24P. In any case, there are ways to remove the pulldown and thus allow the video to be put on a true 24 or 30 frame progressive timeline. The answers on how to do this are likely on the HV20/HV30 forum. |

hey CJ, that is incorrecct. 24F from A1 (not 24P) is 23.976fps in tape and after capture. PF24 from HV20 is 29.97fps in both tape and after capture.
