Which connection can I best check the presets?

Hi all. I'm a XH A1 owner for 2 weeks now and have a question about the presets which can be downloaded from this very great forum.
For trying out all the downloaded presets I hooked up my A1 to my LCD TVset through the component-out as well as through AV-out.
On my TV I notice a big difference in the picture of both conenctions. The component connection shows much less contrast and color. And therefor some presets which look nice via AV-out donn't via component and vice versa. I guess that AV-out is SD quality and component out is HD quality? (did not have the time yet to read through the manual). My questions is: Since I donn't have a Blu ray burner and/or player and no real HDV TV I plan to shoot in HD, edit in HD and finalize to a SD DVD. With this in mind through which conenction can I best check the presets and thus the settings of the A1? Through component or through AV-out?

Thanks in advance
Kees

Please avoid ambiguous thread titles. Changed from "Question from a new user" to "which connection can I best check the presets?" And yes, the A/V output is always standard definition while component output can be either SD or HD (your choice via menu).

OK. Sorry. I'll keep that in mind.
Is there a reason however why the picture through the component- connection is so much less brilliant as through the AV-connection?
