24f vs 30f for BlueRay

I plan on doing the downconvert to 16x9 DVD thing for now but before I start accumulating too many projects, I have a question:

I know BlueRay and HD TV's support 60i and 24P, what would I need to do if I taped in 30P(f)? Will the players and HDTV's play 30P? I like the idea of progressive but would like it at a speed that handles motion a little better.
