SD Card 16m
I just cracked open my box and saw the SD card. Is that thing really 16 megs only??? Seems kind of strange to include a 16 meg card, especially when the manual goes on and on about SD HC cards being over 2 GIGs.

Canon isn't in the SD card business, so it wouldn't make much sense for them to include anything bigger than the 16mb "starter" card that's already in there. It's more than enough for storing the Custom Preset files, and you can easily add the high capacity SDHC card of your choice. Considering that still images from this camera are only two megapixels, any SD card will do; I use some older 128mb and 256mb cards I had laying around. I don't think you can even buy 128mb SD cards anymore. High capacity SD is *not* a requirement for this camera.

I figured it was something like that. The price of SD cards had fallen so much that it surprised me that a 16 meg card even existed anymore. 2 gig cards are down around $12-20 now.
On another note. I hooked up my A1 to my 56 inch 1080 TV and once I turned the auto gain off and what-not, I stared and grinned like an idiot at the TV for a couple minutes. Anyway, back to the manual. :) JR |

not much need for sd card
this is a video camera. The main reason I take any pics at all is to record my current settings of the camera in video mode. As for presets. I only use a few on any outing so a much bigger card is not needed.
