Do you still White Balance when using Custom Presets?

You still have to consider it. Custom presets interact with the white balance setting on the camera. Lets say you adjust your custom preset inside using a chart and Tungsten light on preset 3200K. You might want the same response from the camera outdoors but you certainly wouldn't want to use 3200K as your white balance unless you like very blue footage. On the otherhand you could be destroying what you liked about the custom preset by auto white balancing. This is why I recommend not going overboard with your adjustments unless you know the color temperature of the light you are going to be shooting in.

Certainly you have to WB even when using Custom Presets. Unless you make a CP for specific color tempereature and do not use it anywhere else.
I use the PanaLook CP almost all the time and WB normally before every shoot. If not I'd have to make a separate panalook CP for every color temperature I encounter, what would be the point? |
