how do you all import
Hey all
I am having a problem working with the footage from from the xh a1. It seems Vegas 7 will only recognize the footage and play the m2t files. It also is the only program I have made work that will capture from the xh a1, and even then I have to override the program to not use its own capturing program. My question is how do you all handle the m2t files created from your xh a1. Does anyone use any free-ware or anything to capture/convert into a usable format for PP2 or After Effects. Just curious. Thanks for any input. trent |

Trent,
I use PPro CS3 (on a PC) and use it's own "capture" capability and it works just fine. That is, I hook up my camera, start PPro CS3, hit the F5 key and start the capture (I need to have the monitor on the camera flipped out so I can see the footage being captured since as soon as you start capturing, PPro's viewer goes blank). However, on my 3 yeear old PC (I had to buy a brand new Power house to handle HD) I could not get it to recognize (via PPro CS3) that the camera is in fact connected to the firewire port. The port was working, because what I was able to do was use Movie Maker (comes with XP/Vista) to capture my HD footage and save (as MPEG2). I've used HDVSplit (free ware) (that generates m2t files). On my older PC as well and was able to use the m2t files directly in PPro. The A1 doesn't really create m2t file per-se (I don't believe). If you're on a PC using XP or Vista, try using Movie Maker :) It's not the ideal solution but it works and those captures can be used in PPro. Note however, since my older PC (dual 2GHz, 1.5MB RAM) was really (I mean really) slow and as a result, I didn't do any real work on it. But I was fiddling till my new machine arrived. Shiv. |
