For XF300, How to Calculate DoF ???
I have been searching without luck for an Android app that will allow me to quickly calculate the Depth of Field for my Canon XF300 for various apertures, focal lengths and distances. Supposedly some existing apps will allow you to do this but you have to enter a large array of parameters such as circle of confusion, sensor size, etc., for most of which parameters I have no clue.
Is there a good Android smartphone app that will allow me to do this? There seem to be a number of descent Android apps for DSLRs but non for professional camcorders. Thanks. |

Re: For XF300, How to Calculate DoF ???
Hi Dan,
As I mentioned to you in an email a few days ago, I use an app on my iPad called “Digital DoF” that does what you want. The XF300 isn’t listed specifically, but the sensor size is 1/3” so I just have to choose that option. Too bad that app is not available for Android. But now you've raised my curiosity. Why do you want such an app? What are you going to do with it? What purpose will it serve you? I'm just interested to learn why you want it.
