How to create a custom picture file then import to a canon xf300
Ok, first off let me say I've learned a lot from these forums for the past few years. (I started with a GL2 the an XH-A1, then a XH-A1s, and now to the XF300) So I can say I'm not new to most things, but this camera has me baffled...
I can go into custom picture and change the values as I want, but how do I create a NEW one and save it on the card? Is there some way to use the Canon XF Utility?, or can I do it on the camera (and not delete or over ride the current 9 I have saved in the camera currently)? I'm pretty sure this has been asked before, and I know it's going to be something simple, but at this point I can't seem to see the forest thru the trees... Help guys, and thanks for all your help thus far. |

The short answer is - it's in the manual in the Custom Picture Files section. I have the XF100 so can't tell you the exact pages. You have a limited number of CP file settings available, but you can customize those, then save them to an SD card. In fact, if you insert an SD card that holds multiple CP files, you can access those as well as the built-in ones.
I don't know of a way to create CP files other than to customize some of the ones in the camera, but once that's done they may be saved to an SD card. And, on the XF100 about half of the built-in ones are the default settings and meant to be customized. If you're having trouble digging in to a good understanding of the camera, I recommend Doug Jensen's Vortex dvd set on the XF300: MASTERING THE CANON XF305 & XF300 CAMCORDERS. Highly recommended, even if you have the XF100. |

Re: How to create a custom picture file then import to a canon xf300
Thanks David, I appreciate your responding. One of the first things I purchased with the camera was Doug Jensen's Vortex dvd set. And I can assure you, it helped a lot. I kind of figured the best way was to copy all 9 camera presets to the card then use those 9 locations to create more custom picture setting.
If anyone knows of another way please let me know. Once again, thanks for your help. |
