Back from service; new eye plug, new firmware
Sent my XF305 in for service while I was off on vacation.
They replaced my sun-burned viewfinder and provided a new cap with a tethering string, which is handy. Also put on a warning sticker about the sun. So apparently they haven't solved the sun burn-in issue. My big problem came when I tried to ingest a news assignment on deadline the first day back at work with my newly-serviced camera. I was dead in the water with no way to get the video off the card. Panic ensues. Turns out they upgraded the firmware and the old plugin for Final Cut would no longer work - but with a message saying there were no compatible folder structure on the card, rather than something useful like 'update!' Took me a while to figure out that they had upgraded the firmware without asking and that the old plugin would no longer work. Just fyi. |
