Check your camera for stuck pixels

I just received my XF 105 and XF 305 cameras (just over a week old). I've been going through all the functions, trying them out to see how they work.

I discovered that when my XF 305 is in 1280 x 720 mode (so I can do slow and fast motion), it has a stuck pixel. It appears in the lcd display, viewfinder, hdmi and av outputs, and in the actual recorded clip, so it must be in the actual chip that records the signal. It's very noticeable - it's bright white.

It doesn't show up in 1920 x 1080 mode, so I can work around it. But I really want to use the special speed options.

So, this camera is going back for repairs. I suggest that even if you haven't used the other modes, you take the time to test them all, while looking at the output on a big monitor.

Have you tried to black balance the camera a few times in a row? That should take care of the problem. Could save you some time waiting for the repair shop to do the same thing.

Is there even a setting for that on this camera? I don't see it anywhere.

Re: Check your camera for stuck pixels

I had one on my 305. Discovered it while low light filming at 12db. Was going in for a service and warranty work so got sorted, imaging some sort of pixel re-map!?

Its worth checking every now and again.
