Is anyone using a glidecam HD100 with the xf100?
I'd love to see some footage. Is there any other stabiliser that works with the xf100?

I went for the HD2000 so I could also use it with my Canon DSLRs. I'm very happy with it, but it's tricky to get it balanced to take full advantage.
Much of this footage was shot with my XF100 on the HD2000:

Nice work Steve!
I'm also wondering if the HD1000 would do the trick for a fx100. Your HD2000 video looks great though and I understand your choice since it's a dual purpose stabilizer for the fx100 and a HDSLR. |

I just recently got a SmallHD DP6 LCD monitor, and if I add that to the "flying" rig, along with anything else, it'd probably be too heavy for the 1000. But I am a little more...err...sturdy than the average camera operator. Especially after Thanksgiving. :D

I'm using an HD1000 (which I bought used on DV-Info) with the XF100. Works like a charm. The image stabilization on the XF100 (powered setting) really takes out the shakes.

looks good Steve, looking at the weight of the hd2000 I might have to forgo it. I've been on the road for 4 mths and carry all my gear on my back.

FYI I only use 1/3 of the weights that came with the HD2000, although I haven't used it with the LCD display yet.

Re: Is anyone using a glidecam HD100 with the xf100?
I had a HD4000 for my 7D with a monitor I mounted on the base. I was able to eliminate several weights as the monitor becomes one of the weights. I would think the HD2000 would balance well with the LCD monitor on the bottom and xf on the top.
This is a link to my Glidecam HD4000 with a two dollar homemade monitor mount on the pedestal. Monitor Attachement Rigs For Glidecam - Glidecam Forum note: I sold the 4000 when I stopped shooting HDSLR in favor of the XF100. This is why I'm looking to use a HD1000 or maybe HD2000 for the xf. I prefer keeping the weight down by using a HD1000 if I can. |
