help with editing XF video
I have a client who's across the country, and I want to deliver the XF video to them. I will burn it to a DVD or a flashcard and mail it to them.
The problem is, they use FCP 6 or 7. Don' they need the XF Utility disc that came with my camera? I don't want to send it off, as I may never get it back. How can an editor edit my footage when he's 1,000 miles away? |

Re: help with editing XF video
You could burn a disc copy or send them a disc image, no?
I know you can't download the full XF Utility installer (only updates) from the Canon site (very, very short-sighted) but can't you download the FCP plug-in by itself? |

Where would you get this FCP plug-in?

Re: help with editing XF video
I don't have my own editing system, so I don't know how I can convert anything.
I talked to Canon tech support, and they said I have to burn a copy of the XF Utility and send it to the editor. I also voiced my displeasure with Canon's decision to not have this utility available as a download from their website. I told them this decision only hurts the people who've purchased their cameras, as it makes situations like this unavoidable. |
