LA sunset
Calling all Los Angeles shooters...
I need to do a short dusk to dark time-lapse over LA, sunset to city lights, classic view. Where is the best place? Have been to the Griffith Observatory but think I need the sunset more in the background to get the lovely red sky. Any ideas?? Matt |

Re: LA sunset
Unfortunately LA doesn't have a very recognizable skyline since there are very few tall buildings between downtown and Santa Monica.
That said, check out some of the taller buildings or parking structures in Downtown LA or Century City. If you don't need the buildings check these places out., - Will Rogers State Park in the Palisades off the PCH that has a great view of the sunset. - In Culver City, there's a park at the corner of Jefferson and Duquenes, just south of Sony lot Both involve a nice short hike. |

Re: LA sunset
Thanks John
I will try that. Downtown is about the best skyline and I have shot it from the Observatory (really get to see the scope of the XF zoom) Not a great fan of time lapses unless they are done well, great subject etc This job calls for a short, fast one, 5 seconds or so, maybe thats to short to be effective.. I will experiment with the settings. Matt |

Re: LA sunset
I did some tests from my office building in Century City. You can see the good year blimp circling a few times around downtown.
I've tried to get a decent sunset from here, but the angle is all wrong. |
