XF100 or palm size?
I am looking for a video camera I can use when I cannot pack the XF300, ie when I go outside the UK. I would want good quality footage but it would be more a camera to use to "record the moment" rather than produce saleable footage.
I was thinking about the XF100 but I then started looking at the likes of the Panasonic TM700/900 and Sony CX550 palm size camera. From what I have seen on vimeo both look excellent quality. I am wondering what the major difference would be between that and an XF100. I mean the XF100 is more than twice the price and for a second camera that seems like an awful lot of money to justify spending. Andy S |

Re: XF100 or palm size?
So you decided to keep your XF300?
Check out the new little Canons, the XA10 and the G10. They're as small as the other cameras you mentioned, and they have the same chip and lens as the XF100. The XA10 even has a detachable handle with 2 XLR inputs. Sony is about to release small NXCAM cameras, one is even sand and water proof! That would be handy if you're roughing it. But it'll cost as much as an XF100. They also have the NEX VG10, which has a large sensor like a DSLR. |

Re: XF100 or palm size?
I would be interested to see the new small NXCAM cameras. Do you have a link to some info on them? I can seem to find anything.
I am keeping the XF300 for now but I have though about the possibility of selling it and getting a Sony NX5. I was deliberating between the XF300 and NX5 when I got the XF300 but I am now wondering if the NX5 at nearly £1500 less than the XF300 might be fine for my use. Andy S |

Re: XF100 or palm size?
Sonystyle had a news release a couple of days ago on the new cameras. They look kind of interesting too.
Re: the Nex 5 and/or the VG-10. I bought the nex 5 primarily as a stills camera, and after shooting a lot of video with it during a humanitarian aid trip, I was so impressed with the video quality I bought the vg-10 for the ergonmics and improved video controls. The nex is a spectacular little camera. it's a bit crippled by lack of full manual controls, but it does a wonderful job, and is extremely compact. It's very much worth a hard look |

Re: XF100 or palm size?
Few weeks Canon will be releasing the HF G10 model. Colors will match.
