Problems with LANC Control for XF305?

Has anyone experienced any problems using an LANC control with the XF305? We recently purchased two XF305 cameras and two Manfrotto 523 PROi handle remotes. Unfortunately the remotes did not work for either camera out of the box. I exchanged them and received new remotes, and these do not work either. According to information found on Canon's website under the features for the camera, the XF305 remote port is compatible with the LANC protocol, but to have two different sets of remotes not work for either camera is odd. I know the problem could also be with both cameras, but wanted to check with other users to find out if anyone else is having difficulties using an LANC control. Any suggestions/advice will be appreciated.

Thanks.

I use the Manfrotto 521 (basic LANC remote) with my XF300 without any issue.
523 should work also.

I have a varizoom rocker lanc and it seems very hard to control. Zoom doesnt start when its supposed to so i pushed a bit harder and it jumps all the way very quickly. I had the exact same style controller for my Panasonic which is not lanc and it was wonderful. Gotta figure this out as I really need the ability to smoothly zoom.

Update on remotes

I tried the 521 and it does not work on either camera. I have an old GL1 and didn't realize it had a remote port, so I tried both the 523 PROi and the 521 remotes, and both remotes work perfectly. I'm wondering now if it's a design flaw in the XF305, or if the remote ports on both cameras are bad.

Final update

I received the new replacement cameras and tested the LANC remotes. All remotes work perfect. The problem was with the ports on the original cameras. Thanks for the replies on this post...they helped troubleshoot the problem.
