Re: XA-25: 4.2.2 on SDI and HDMI ?
RE: 4:2:2 on the HF-G10 (XA-10)
I have done a simultaneous recording of a difficult scene (dark theater stage with only red, dimmed lighting) on a SD card (AVCHD, highest quality) and an external recorder (BM Hyperdeck Shuttle, DNxHD 185x) connected via HDMI. While at other moments during the play, there was absolutely no visible difference between the two recordings, even with a strong zoom in the editing software (the camera was static, so no real "hard-to-encode" details that would have made it more difficult for AVCHD vs. DNxHD), closely examining the edges of the objects during this specific scene clearly showed chroma subsampling (blocky red edges) for AVCHD (4;2:0) and clean, smooth edges on DNxHD (4:2:2). Re: XA-25: 4.2.2 on SDI and HDMI ?
Thanks for sharing that bit of info, Benoit ... very interesting. That sounds very promising then for both HDMI and SDI on the XA25 I would say. Although, we still don't have a way to confirm if it is 10-bit, although I'll admit the 4:2:2 is more important to me than the being 10-bit.
