Recording HDV (24p) - Vegas Reporting 29.970 fps ???
Okay, what's the deal here? I've got the HV20 set for HDV 24p with P (not cinemode) and recorded my footage. When I import the footage both with HDVsplit and Sony Vegas' HD Capture...Vegas identifies the clips as 29.970fps. Using the trial version of NeoHDV - those clips are identified as 23.976fps in Vegas. So is this the expected behavior of Vegas?
I mean, I realize that neither Vegas' HD capture or HDVsplit can capture and extract the 24p. So even though the footage was initially recorded as 24p, Vegas is going to always report it as 29.970fps unless I actually capture using NeoHDV - correct? (FYI - I'll be buying NeoHDV this week since the trial version is over) Anyway, I just need some confirmation I'm thinking about this correctly. |

You are correct. You would have to process the captured clip from Vegas or HDVSplit with other software to remove the pulldown and get the native 24p content.

HV20 will always transfer in 1 format: 1080i 29.97fps (see manual).
I wonder how NeoHDV detects it's really 24fps. Not sure how this info is exactly stored/transferred. |
