HV20 is not a color camera
I can't believe all of you so-called "professionals" aren't complaing about this.
I've been a professional photographer for the last 100+ years (before color emulsions!) and I just put down my Kodak Brownie long enough to edit some HV20 footage. Imagine my dismay to learn that the HV20 only records half the color resolution compared to the luminence detail! Canon hides this fact calling it "4:2:0" ... whatever *that* means!?! I want my money back, and I think that Canon should have to buy me a Viper and a 16 TB array so that I can properly record my daughter's friend's cousin's Bar Mitzva. P.S. I've heard rumors that to fit the image on tape, Canon is also throwing away parts of the image, something that their marketing department is calling "MPEG2 compression". I'm investigating this obvious fraud, as well. :-) Tongue firmly in cheek, Joe Last edited by Joseph H. Moore; July 26th, 2007 at 09:22 AM. |

Nature of HDV
4:2:0 color res is not Canon's fault, it the nature of the HDV format. Same thing with MPEG2 compression. Canon's done very well as far as picture quality compared to any other sub-$3000 camera. Don't be so quick to judge. ;)

Please send your unwanted cameras to me...
Yes. All of you that have been taken, please send me your camera, since it is worthless. I'll try to work through all the disabilities...... and use them for a multicamera shoot..... :)

No, no, you should join my class action law suit. We're all gonna go over to the head of Canon USA's house one night and "toilet paper" his yard with DV tape. ;-)

The secret to my longevity is a steady diet or cigars, whiskey and placental fluids.
