panning/action use help needed
Anyone have suggestions for how to setup (and use) the HV20 for "action" oriented handheld videos?
I've tried 60i and 24P and a couple of different shutter priority settings (with and without OIS) but my action vids look pretty dreadful. I even tried relatively slow pans from a tripod and these show pretty significant "artifacting". The magnitude of the "artifacting" seems to be relative to camera motion. Only at extremely slow pans does the artifacting approach zero. I'm not sure if it's the camera settings, technique, the limitations of the camera, HDV codec, or combination of all of these issues. ??? FYI: The captured video (60i and 24p) look GREAT when the camera isn't moving so I know the camera is capable of producing excelent quality. Thanks for any suggestions JohnG

I got some tripod slow tilts/pans that look great
I convert all my 60i to 30p and it looks flawless I run higher shutter speeds though... 1/500 to 1/2000... And I have OIS on... I am using an HV10 but it shouldn't make a huge difference |
