HV20 25p capture possible on the fly in FCP
I posted this message in the apple forums.
I have the A1 & the HV20 and found that FCP captures the HV20 at 50i (pal) using the HDV 1080p25 settings. If you have the the A1 and then capture some A1 footage in 25F mode right after capturing from the HV20, FCP captures it also in 50i not 25P like it always had before the HV20 came along. I trashed the prefs files and relaunched FCP, it does the full re initialize and profiling thing (so you know you have ditched the right prefs). After that the A1 captures 25P using the HDV 1080p preset like it used to. Next changing cameras over back to the HV20 leaving the log & capture window open, I capture the HV20 25F footage and now it captures full 25p and goes in the timeline along with the A1 25p footage without the need to render. If I quit FCP and try capturing from the HV20 again it reverts back to 50i. You have to kill the prefs and relink the A1 and capture at least a second of footage before it comes back to 25p. It's a workaround, but it's quick. As long as you have a A1 to hand. By the way if you put a 25F HV20 tape into the A1 the A1 show it as 50i and thats how FCP will capture it. It looks like a simple fix from Apple is needed. I am sure things will be sorted out in the next release, but thats a few months away. Regards, James |
