HV20 and A1 reproduce each other's tapes?

I've read that the HV20's and the A1's progressive mode are different. That said, are they capable of reproducing each other's tapes?

Hi, when I playback hv20 1080/25 tapes in the A1 the A1 show 50i. However FCP knows what to do and when captured they both show HDV 1080p25. And go into the timeline the same specs.
