End Search Greyed Out at DVinfo.net

I have an HV20 and the end search feature is suddenly not available on any of my miniDVs. I used to be able to execute the feature, but now it's unavailable.

Does anyone know why? Thanks

I read if you take the tape out and put it back that will happen.

yeah that's a shame!

"Marco, the issue is that when a tape is removed an reinserted, 'end search' no longer works for the footage already on the tape (that's in the manual). I believe this is true for most cams that have this feature. I agree though, it would be nice for it to work regardless."

Page 32 in the manual states: End search cannot be used once you remove
the cassette.

Doh! In the time it took to look in the manual and quote it, folks had replied! :-)

haha!

well i took the tape out, reinserted in, recorded some footage and voila...end search works!
