HV20 Clip (24p)

http://447productions.com/HV20_24p_540p.mov (960x540, 23.98fps, h264, 6mb)

HDV PF24 mode
Shutter 1/48
Color Temp Daylight (5600)
Cir Pola
Reverse Telecine to create 23.98

For now, here is a properly conformed file. A buddy of mine at Band Pro showed me how to make it happen. I can upload this exact clip at 1920x1080 onto my ftp but it is 117mb. QT, AIC, 23.98, might be worth it so let me know and I can upload that QT later.

Looking good..

...though the dust swirling around by the maroon car was hard to make out individual particles in.

Seriously, nice footage, this camera also handles skin tones well and the CINE mode works great with the PF24. Not sure what CINE does with the shutter, but I like the look. PF24 by itself looks outstanding too, one of the best modes Canon has come up with to date, I hope it is in their future cameras..
Later, Alan

Very very nice.

I would love to see the "Big" version if you don't mind.

The colors look so good in that clip!

So is there a 24p HDV mode that does NOT work within 29.97, so you can cut native 23.98 with say, an XL-H1 or XDCAM HD?

I just took the HV20's native 24p AIC QT file and used MPEG streamclip to conform to 1080p24HDV (Canon XL H1/A1) as well as 720p24HDV (JVC ProHD) and brought both into FCP projects- both worked flawlessly. I was happily surprised that with some finesse, it all seemed to work.

Workflow

Taylor,
Could you run through the workflow you used to import the 24p footage to FCP and use it on a 24p (XH-a1) timeline. I know you used MPEG Streamclip, but I can't seem to get it to work.
Please discuss the settings in Streamclip.
Thanks,
Ryan
