The Monster is the new format

I think Canon's 24p for CMOS is pure genius..can't fault the engineering on this little consumer cam IMHO and I'll be shooting this format allot. Simply brilliant engineering work on their part as the feature set rocks for such a basic entry level to HDV and 1080p HD. If Blackmagic and Cineform start supporting it, I'll buy their wares as well. If Canon comes out with prosumer versions that support this true progressive format I'll shoot with those cameras too. The current higher end HDV Canons are great and certainly have excellent and comprehensive manual controls, but the 24p format on the HV20 is an upgrade I hope Canon continues with. Will be renting higher end cameras for a long time, why limit a talented DP with a consumer camera, at the same time the HV20 works as a great little camera and deck now. The controls are fine for me. The HV10 has a great image too from what I've seen, but for me this 24p format is such a bonus on a small personal camera. All the vendors are releasing some greatly improved lower end cameras, but Canon hit the first home run. Should say I've owned one Canon and one Sony, still own a Panasonic ( not the HVX200, which is great BTW ) and am very impressed by the JVC HD110.

Brevis35, SGPro add production value..

..I should mention that there are some smaller companies out there playing a big part in adding production value to cameras from Canon and the other major manufacturers as well. Now for some improved software support, though time to upgrade to AE7 anyway.
