may i capture hdv on fcp without other softwares?

may i capture hdv on fcp without other softwares? or do i need a plugin or the canon software to capture the footage?

All you need is a firewire cable. Check the Apple website to see which capture preset is recommended for your camera. It appears most of the Canons use HDV FW basic.

Good point.

Also you can simply capture and edit in iMovie HD also.
