TV Type playback clarification
I am looking into getting this camera for playback of footage from my H1. Having read the manual I don't quite understand the TV Type playback option. When playing back my HDV footage to edit in SD, will it crop the sides if I choose Normal TV or will it squeeze the footage. I want it to crop the stuff, but from the manual I can't tell if it will do what I need.

I just played around with that. This is what I found going out comp. to a 16/9 Sony HD monitor. There are 2 settings that affect the picture: TV type and comp out. When I switched the TV type to 4:3 it did not crop the image rather it scaled it down, adding black bars at the top and bottom. (comp out becomes greyed out)
One other combination squeezed the picture. (16:9 and 480i out) There was no setting I tried that actually just cropped the HD image to a 4:3 aspect however if that's what you need it to do. Wouldn't a true 16:9 broadcast monitor add crop bars over the sides of the HD picture? I thought they had that feature. |

Thanks for the info. It looks like I'm still going to have to wait to find a way to play the 24F stuff out SD with cropped sides.......
