WOW! not bad at all. It isn't a perfect still image camera but if the HDV can look anything like that (minus the mpeg-2 compression of course) it should be a pretty good little HDV camera. The pixel detail in these still images seems to be greater than what the SONY HC1 can produce.

Wow indeed. I'd be more than happy if the video looked anything near like those stills. And this coming from a tiny little 1lb camera too. This would make a nice backpacking camera.

This reminds me to go out and snap pictures of flowers with my HC1 so that I can compare the photo quality.

I remember photos from HC3 at Sony Japan website. They were astonishing. Anfortunately photos taken by users, when camcorder was available, left a lot to be desired.
Lets see if the same will happen HV10. I hope not, but probably I'm only dreaming.

whoa, those look so photoshopped. They technically wouldnt be lying if they did show post-edited images and labeled them HV10 screenshots.

I'm not sure why so much excitement over a camera whose microphone isn't even on the front end....

Well the topic of this thread is the still photo mode... last time I checked, you don't need a microphone to take stills. Besides, on these tiny little camcorders, the mic placement doesn't really matter that much. It's a narration mic. It's a consumer / travel camcorder. So what about the mic placement.
