Canon Vixia HF S100
Hopefully this is the right thread. I am considering purchasing a Canon Vixia HF S100. I've done research and everything looks good. I edit with Premiere Pro cs3 and Encore cs3. I have a Canon GL2 also. Will I have any problems mixing the two in PPRO cs3 and Encore cs3? Any help and suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance. Harry |

Harry,
Since the HF S100 shoots in High Def and the GL2 doesn't, I'd ask if you really want to mix the two? |

Hi Robin:
Thanks for your reply. Yes that is a concern, HD vs the other. I was thinking, at first, to use it at reception, until I have enough to purchase a second HD camera. If of course I like how it performs. My budget is small at this time. Do you know by chance how difficult it is to transfer the video into the Computer. I have read that USB or putting the chip into a cardreader is the way to go. Also does the files have to be converted into another format? Thanks in advance Harry |

Harry,
I've been editing material from this camera just fine with Premiere CS3, either by using Neo Scene to convert the AVCHD files to Cineform avi files, or more recently, via the Mainconcept MPEG Pro HD plug-in which I really like. CS3 won't edit AVCHD natively, hence these work arounds. CS4 will of course. Some people also use Sony Vegas, but I don't like the interface personally. Transferring the files from the camera couldn't be simpler. Either take the card out and use a card reader, or just navigate down to the video files via the USB connection. |
