replacing my HV20's (by Friday)
Last July I had three HV20's, knew them, liked them, they were fine for my level of landscape and event work, plenty of happy clients.
In August I dropped one and broke it. So I was limping a bit, but OK for events. A couple weeks ago the remaining two were stolen in Costa Rica. So, I arrive home last night and I get a call today for an event on Saturday. I'm looking at tapeless, 24p, external mic, at least one with a long zoom, avoiding an internal hard drive or DVD, preferring memory-both internal and cards. Must have low light performance similar to the HV20. I'd need at least two by Friday. I was planning on a leisurely month of research, but now it's a couple days. Would anyone recommend a Vixia or two for the task? thanks |

Hi Scott, it's really too bad that the new VIXIA HF S21 isn't shipping yet -- it would suit your needs perfectly:

I went with three HV30 refurbs from B+H at $480 apiece.
I liked the Canon HF-S10 and the Panasonic HDC-TM300, as well as the new models. We'll see what the Spring and early Summer hold in terms of business and great deals. |
