HV40 pulldown removal for FCP 6 help

I borrowed a friends hv40 for a shoot and I read on a post that if you shoot in 24f native no pulldown is needed.....I've tried 24f as well as 24pf and when I bring it into FCP my frame rate is 29.97 not 23.97. I've tried removing pulldown once in FCP to no avail.........what codec settings should I use in FCP for the correct pulldown removal? Thanks
