Canon HV30: Pal & NTSC
I'm just about to buy an HV30. One seller I'm considering states that they have a worldwide version which is both PAL & NTSC compatible.
Does such a beast exist? I live in PAL land. :-( Ian Festival Video and Audio Previews - Festival Previews Ltd |

Not certain, but it sounds dubious. Multi-standard cams are most often found at the pro and prosumer level. From what I've seen, Canon sell a kit to additionally enable NTSC on PAL cams, and PAL on NTSC cams. I don't believe they sell an A1 model that natively supports both standards, but I might be wrong on this.
My best suggestion would be to pour over the Canon site to see if you can find anything about cross/standard support for the HV30. If nothing turns up, I'd suspect that this vendor is trying to sell you the proverbial bill of goods. |

Thanks for the reply. The seller confirmed it was PAL but when I then checked their ebay feedback, I found a trail of complaints about cameras not being PAL and various other difficulties. I guess I should have done that first!
So the answer seems to be no, the beast doesn't exist! Ian Festival Video and Audio Previews - Festival Previews Ltd |
