Help

I just got a HV30 and Final Cut Express and have some footage from Japan I am trying to edit, but Final Cut Express will not recognize my HV30 for capture.

I am using a fire wire cable and have a Western Digital external hard drive hooked up.

Anyone have any advice or tips?

things to check:

-HV30 in VCR mode and connected to computer with firewire cable.
-final cut easy set up as: HDV - 1080i60 Firewire basic at 29.97 fps
-device control set to firewire in the log and capture window

restarting final cut with the camera on sometimes helps, and having the camera playing some footage when you open the capture window sometimes helps too.
