Storing the DM-50 on camera?

Hi All,

I received my new DM-50 yesterday and flipping through the instructions it says not to store the DM-50 on the camera when not in use - seems like a real pain to me given the subsequent need to attach and re-attach all the time.

Is this "instruction" simply a precaution against mount damage or will the thing drain the battery even while the camcorder is off (unlikely I know, but it would be the only serious need to detach the unit that I can think of).

Sorry, I can't help you with your question but...

I didn't know what a DM-50 was so I googled it. I went to the amazon.com page. Amazon thinks that an XL-2 is a 'related accessory' to the DM-50.

BTW, a DM-50 is a stereo shotgun for those, like me, who didn't know.
