HV30 w/ V1 lens hood

HV30 with HDR-V1u lens hood moded using a step down apater ring.

I like it, looks good.

The black camera certainly has more of a presence, and that hood makes it nearly twice as large. And functional too, I should add. Wish I had a V1U hood.. and an HV30 to round it out.

Which begs the question - Brian, why aren't you using your V1U? I'd expect the V1U to have more resolution than an HV20/30, not to mention also having a progressive (24P) mode. Quite a good camera from what I know about it.

I sold my V1's upgraded to XDCAM EX and HVR-Z7 The V30 is a back up cam, playback deck / vacation cam.

How did you put a shoe on your V1U hood? I've never seen that before.

Yeah the shoe on the hood is an interesting thing


Ok, I have a Sony Z1U here at work and will be taking a HV30 over to germany for a month for a doc and would like to use the Z's hood if I could. I put matte boxes on both the sony's so the hood is free to use.

What are the parts I need?
