Question about editing HV20 footage
I'm currently using a Sony HC1 and A1U, but am considering buying an HV20. I use Cineform NEO with Vegas for editing.
I was wondering how footage captured via HDMI will effect editing for me. Will NEO work? Are the resulting file sizes bigger? Is editing/rendering slower? Thanks |

If you capture live from HMDI your quality goes up significantly, no MPEG artifacts, and 4:2:2 chroma resolution (i.e. doubles.) For live HDMI capture your data rate will increase, maybe 20%, editing speed in not impacted more than 5% for the increased datarate -- well worth it for the quality. If you use HDMI for tape captured content, the quality and editing performance with be unchanged from Firewire based captures.
