It should automatically recognize it and play it back. If not, then the format the video was saved in is not compatible with Vegas.

Hi,
maybe I ask in wrong way, when I open .m2t( recorded video 50i or 25p) in Vegas, properties of the files show "field order=upper field first" , I expected for 25p to show "field order=none(progressive scan)" or I have wrong. Thanks |

If it was recorded as 50i, then it's correctly showing up as "upper field first". It should be progressive only if you are 100% sure that something was shot as 25p.

Hi,
in the menu hd standard I set it HDV(PF25), does it mean that I shoot in 25p? Thanks |

The camera samples 25 full frames per second, slices frames in half and writes out the frames as 50i fields. This process is called "2:2 pulldown". The difference from normal 50i is that there is no temporal shift between fields of one frame, therefore frames can be fully reconstructed by either a TV set if you watch from the camera directly on TV, or by an NLE. The HV20 is known to not flag video as pulled down progressive, therefore for an NLE it appears like a regular 50i. I don't have Vegas so I cannot advise you whether you can just set video type as 25p, or you need to process it with another utility.

It just means how it was encoded. It doesn't matter, 50i where both fields are the same is basically 25p.

Hi,
thank you all. I learned something from your replies but obviously I ask wrong question (maybe my English is not on the level). For example, I shoot video in 25p before 1 month and didn't captured it right away after the shoot and didn't marked anywhere that I shoot it in 25p. I want to capture it today but in the mean time I forgot was it shoot in 25p or 50i, how can Vegas show me is it 25p or 50i |
