HV20 Play Sony HVR-A1U Tapes?
My Sony HVR-A1U's firewire port has died. I'm told it'll cost me over a thousand to have it fixed. At that price, I figured I might as well by an HV20 instead. I've always preferred Canon's cameras anyway.
I see that the Canon is HD v2. Does this mean it'll play my recorded Sony HD tapes? |

I used to own a Sony A1u but sold it to buy the Canon A1 and HV20.
No problem playing back the Sony tapes on the HV20. Works perfectly. BTW, the HV20 is a fine little camera too |

Thanks, Jim. Good to know I can use the A1u as a backup and not have to get it fixed.

Rob,
I just sent my HC1 with the same firewire problem to Mack Cameras - cost $225.00 plus the estimate and the shipping - all told under $300.00. It might be worth doing if you really want the camera working in full order. |
