Canon Optura

I own an original Canon Optura. I am wondering if there is a good website for this camera.

Does anyone know how to tuen the power save feature off on this camera? It will turn off after about 5 min. when in record standby.

It is a great camera and I want to learn more.

Go to www.dvinfo.net/xl1.htm and see the Articles Menu > Camera Head section for an article called "Standby Mode explained." The same principles and work-arounds will apply to the Optura. Sorry but there is no way to disable it.

I also have one of the original Opturas; looks and handles like a 35mm TTL camera. I really liked mine, also, although I didn't really use it very much. It's footage always looked good for a 1-chip camera. And the lens is quite large and clean for a camera this size. The only problem I always had with it was its battery. The slip-in battery compartment only accepts one battery size...and its life was not heroic. I'd wind up wearing a bandalero of batteries just to shoot for a few hours.

Gee, maybe I'll pull it out again.

E-mail:

richard.szewczyk@woodside.com.au

and ask him for his Optura website address. I seem to have lost this link. He's got a lot of good info on this cam.
