gl2 zoom frozen -- any quick repair ideas?
My zoom rocker is dead. I had it replaced last year because it was "sticking." But now it's just plain dead. I just sent it to Canon a couple months ago for another repair, and would rather not have to do that just yet. Anyone know a quick fix for this problem? Do I need to order a new zoom rocker?
More info: Worked like a charm just a few days ago, then last nite, first cold snap, outdoor shoot, zoom rocker "froze." Used grip zoom as a poor substitute. I also just recently (couple months) sent it to Canon to repair a prob -- "tape error" message popped up and did not allow recording. They replaced the idler gear ass'y, drive gear ass'y, slide chassis ass'y and AV Jack. Cam is a few years old. Has worked like a champ until last year, first prob. I shoot in all kinds of weather, hot sun, beach, drizzly and cold sports fields...Use rain cover when really drizzly, but that's it. |

This is a job for Canon factory service (Irvine, CA and Jamesburg, NJ). The sooner you send it in, the sooner you'll get it back in proper working condition.
