GL2 driver stealing firewire
I have two Gl2 cams; one was purchased about a year later I think. Anyway my first GL2, plugged into a powerbook via Firewire works great with Final Cut Express while the other prevents the exterior hard drive from showing up. It seems the newer GL2 driver hogs the firewire. I've heard of this happening before but never found a solution; I just use the older GL2 to allow video capture to the Powerbook.
Update: After poking around on google I found what seems the only apparent solution; buy a firewire PC card: http://www.xlr8yourmac.com/archives/aug05/081705.html Seems like Canon took a step backward when they made my second GL2. |

Slightly off topic:
How does one tell the difference between an older and newer GL2? Just for future reference. I don't want this to happen unexpectedly if I change my system or something. |
