Where to buy the xm2 in the netherlands

Hi everybody

I have a strange question.

After a few months I now have the money to buy a XM2 :):)

But now comes the problem.

Where do I buy this camcorder in the Netherlands?

After buying a sony camcorder online, and having lots of troubles with warranty etc I want to this camcorder in a shop.

Because it's a very expensive camcorder for just an amateure, I want a good service and support from the shop.
Many shops just send you to the manufacturer when you have a problem, instead of solving the problem.

So I am looking for a nice shop that for example, gives me a spare camcorder if my xm2 is being repared.

Maybe someone on this forum can give me some advice.

You might want to ask this fine fellow:

mail@markonthe.net

(His name is Mark and he lives in The Netherlands. He is also the proud owner of a MX300. I'm sure he can give you suggestions on where to buy.)

Gabriel,

Greeting from a fellow country mate. I checked pricewatch
http://www.tweakers.net/pricewatch/40888 and I bought my
Digital photo camera at Foto Konijnenberg. They are located
very closely near a friend of mine and they looked like a
professional shop (I visited them myself) and they have some
cutting edge prices usually. You can check their site directly
at www.fotokonijnenberg.nl. They have the camera
listed for 2545 euro's. A shop in Amsterdam which is listed on
that first URL above is 100 euro's cheaper but I don't know them.

Other URL's that sell it:

fotovideoshop.nl
digitalecamera.nu
best-sellers.nl
videopartner.nl

etc.

Media Markt usually has it too.

Good luck!

Thank you.

Fotokonijnenberg.nl is a normal shop.
I mentioned I only want to buy at a normal shop, instead of Internet shops.

Media markt doesn't have the camcorder, and they don't know when this cam will be availeble. It can take weeks maybe months.

I went to steenweg electronics in Utrecht, and this company was the first in the Netherlands where I could see the camera, instead of being sold out.

Unfortuatly this cam was only for displaying, and not on sale.

Does anybody have an opinion about steenweg electronics in Utrecht?

I do know their name... but never had any dealings with them.
So I don't know their quality. How did their store look? Were
you helped professionally? That usually is a pretty good indicator.

Foto konijnenberg is near Almelo which is about a 1,5 - 2 hour
drive from Utrecht. Which would not be that much for a camera
of that price range. You might try phoning them to see if they
have one around.

Good luck!

Hello gabriel,

I also live in the Netherlands and had exactly the same problem.
Last saturday I went to Dusseldorf (germany) and bought it in a shop (Koch). Price is 2399.

It does have 2 year European warranty so service in holland (importeur) is not a problem.

Succes,

Randy

On the Internet I read a lot negative stories about foto konijnenberg, so I don't know if it is safe to buy there.

Because I life near Leiden it costs me 2,5 hours by train, but I will visit this store on monday.

Steenweg in Utrecht was the only store that was able to show me the camcorder on display, and they gave me a lot of information. The sell lots of electronics, and the store has been growing the last 3 years.

They have a (in comparision with other stores) a large department of camcorders and stuff. But to say a proffesional shop, I don't know!

Buying in Germany is an option, but it's a bit crazy to go to germany to by this cam.

I also went to some small shop
but none of these shops are able to sell this camcorder, they only sell cheap camcorders (strange)

Well.. if they received a lot of bad publicity than I wouldn't visit
them by train. Since it will be a long journey for you and I'm not
sure how you are going to get there by train and bus. It isn't near
any major trainstation as far ar I know. I used a car.

Better to try something in your vicinity. I had a long search for
my camera too (XL1s) and basically i figured it boils down to this:

If you want a camera a little bit above consumer level than you
have to go to a professional shop (most of the time). Not your
average cam. shop. Probably because they would just not sell
enough of this. I bought some Video magazine at the local Bruna
a couple of months back and that magazine had some ads in them
from shops that sell this kind of equipment.

It can be a hard thing to find though, I agree. Been down that
road myself.

Good luck!

Hey there,
Media Markt told me that the xl1s wouldn't be out here till 6 months (they said that when it was already released). You could call a shop called nivo schweitzer at the haarlemmerdijk, I think they'll have it, if not they'll be sure to tell you when it will be out here and when they'll have it.

I had some bad experience with Foto konijnenburg too.
About half a year ago I called them to check if they had a Sony TRV900 in store. They confirmed. Next day I visited them.

No camera at all. Guy I spoke to didn't know anything about camcorders. They had only about 4 camcorders on display!!
